Career in Retail Management

Retail Management is fast growing industry in Singapore today. Within a lot of retail stores, franchises in Orchard road, and other retail mall and shopping center. A lot of employer require student to join this career.

After IR will built in Singapore, Retail Management need higher standard service and branding, trusting product. Unfortunately a lot of local students never choose retail management as their career job. They still like prefer stay at office, and counting the money. That's become a big challenge of local retail store owners, they have to hire oversea employee like Chinese, Indian, and Malaysian. Language and culture problem cause and service standard drop. Lone time work and high stress sales target also be another problem for employee. Company have to sign the contract with oversea employee but the problem even worse. One of my friend working in a Orchard Road Singapore Shopping center, over time work every day, 1200 salary per month and company politics makes this little girl always cry. She told me have to go back to her hometown after the contact is finished and don't want to work in Singapore any more.

That's why retail management need more local students. They can force the employer to pay higher salary and make the service standard mark as Made in Singapore. English is also another advantage for local students. Someone can be a entrepreneur after work in a retail mall in Singapore.

HOSPITALITY, TOURISM

What's the difference between hospitality and tourism?
I got this information from a forum, so share with everyone who is choosing course in Singapore School.

HOSPITALITY
***********

Hospitality refers to the relationship process between a guest and a host, and it also refers to the act or practice of being hospitable, that is, the reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers, with liberality and goodwill. Hospitality frequently refers to the hospitality industry jobs for hotels, restaurants, casinos, catering, resorts, clubs and any other service position that deals with tourists.

Hospitality is also known as the act of generously providing care and kindness to whoever is in need.

TOURISM
********

Tourism is travel for recreational or leisure purposes. The World Tourism Organization defines tourists as people who "travel to and stay in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited". Tourism has become a popular global leisure activity.
